A colorful, attractive recipe with a few of four ingredients demands very little of your time.
"My mother made me mash my mini and M and Ms on a Monday Morning uuu wa" is a song known among music students.
It is used for vocal training. My children practice music frequently, and they have been asking for some M and Ms treats. I found it easier to make the treats alongside others like the Holiday Rice Krispies Treats and well as the Chocolate Rice Krispies Treats.

About the recipe
We bought a few packets of these candies, and instead of consuming them all, my eldest daughter, who is a food enthusiast, suggested we add them to a Rice Krispies! We embarked on an exciting cooking adventure in our kitchen.
Fast to make
This recipe is excellent time-saving, and the assembly took less than 20 minutes. Having recently done a couple of rice Krispies treats recipes in our kitchen, the children were able to work faster.
As we melted, mixed, and spread, occasionally, the children would sing 'my mother made me mash my mini M and Ms on a Monday Morning.."
Little cleaning
Although my little ones enjoy the cooking process, washing dishes isn't their favorite chore. I was happy to announce that the only utensils that we needed to wash were the mixing bowl, the saucepan, the spatula, and the chopping board.
Some spilling of the Rice Krispies cereals happened since it was our youngest child who was mixing. It took less than a minute to wipe the counter. Our kitty gladly cleaned up the few that spilled on the floor.
Colorful, tasty treats
M and Ms are some of my favorite candies. This is due to the size and the double flavor they contain. Children love candy, and it is usually an uphill task preventing them from indulging in them.
Candies contain unrefined sugars, which cause a number of health problems, among them tooth decay. The bigger the candy, the more unrefined sugars it contains.

The M and Ms are small in size as compared to lollipops or other candies.
This means the children consume less sugar when eating an M and M; in addition, I am able to control the numbers eaten too!
The fruity flavored covering hides a sweet chocolatey gel making it a real delight for any child or even some adult sweet toothers.
"I got three M, and Ms in my Rice Krispie treat!" announced one child," I found a red one and a blue one!" shouted another excitedly.
The Ingredients.

Rice Krispies
All other ingredients bind to the Rice Krispies. They form the primary structure of the treats. This recipe requires about 4 cups of the airy cereals.
Butter
Butter adds moisture to the rice Krispies, making them soft and chewy. The butter gives the treats a rich milky flavor.
Marshmallows (preferably mini-sized)
These contain the sugar that sweetens the treats and the gelatin that becomes gooey, sticky, and stretchy when melted. This property binds the rice Krispies together.
M and Ms
This ingredient adds beautiful color contrast, texture, and fruity and chocolatey flavor to the rice Krispy treats.
Vanilla essence
Although adding this essence might be optional, it gives the Rice Krispies treats an exquisite aroma.
Steps Involved

Melted butter into rice krispies.

The mixture was transferred onto a greasy tray to set.
The recipe involves melting butter and marshmallows into a smooth-flowing cream. The cream is poured into a round mixing bowl containing the Rice Krispies.
Gently mix the Rice Krispies with the cream till all the Rice Krispies are coated by the cream. At this point, sprinkle the M and Ms on the mixture.
Use a spatula to mix in the candies until they are evenly distributed in the mixture.
Transfer the mixture onto the greased tray and gently press on the tray with the spatula.
More About The Equipment

Saucepan: a heavy-based pan is a plus in the recipe as it ensures the butter and marshmallows do not burn quickly.
Spatula: a great tool used for scraping all the creamy mixture from the mixing bowl, thereby not wasting any ingredients.
Mixing bowl; a wide round bowl is the best choice because mixing is made easy, and none of the mixtures remains in the corners.
Baking tray: a 5-inch rectangular non-stick shallow pan was ideal for the amount of mixture.
Chopping board : sturdy chopping board is required as the solid bar is divided into sizable squares. Preferably you can cut the treats while still in the pan.
Knife: a sharp knife ensures neat borders on every slice.
Substitution

Marshmallows
Marshmallows are an essential ingredient since they act as a binding agent. However, there are other ingredients, such as honey, maple syrup, date paste, or even tamarind paste, that could be used.
Butter
Butter adds moisture to the recipe. It can be substituted with coconut oil, peanut butter, or almond butter.
M and Ms
These ingredients enhance the color and flavor of the recipe; however, if you are not a fan of sugary candies, you could use ingredients such as raisins, chopped dates, cornflakes or chopped orange peel.
Rice Krispies
Rice Krispies form the most basic structure of the recipe. They can be substituted with toasted oats, cornflakes, or granola.
Frequently Asked Questions

Can you freeze?
In the event that you need to make a huge batch ahead of an upcoming picnic or potluck, the treats freeze beautifully.
First, it's advisable to cut them into your desired shapes and place them on baking paper or a sheet.
Place the cut-out treats in your freezer overnight. The following day, remove the treats and carefully put them in a ziplock bag. They can freeze for about three months.
How to Store
The M and M Rice Krispie treats should be stored in an airtight container and placed in the refrigerator.
Though as yummy as they taste, the little ones might consume them in less than two days.

Frequently asked questions - FAQs.
Why are my M and M Rice Krispies falling apart?
Rice Krispie treats fall apart when you put too many marshmallows or too much butter.
It is essential to find the correct ratio of marshmallows and butter to the rice Krispies. 2 cups of marshmallows is enough for 6 cups of Rice Krispies.
How long can you keep M and M Rice Krispies treats? About two days in the refrigerator or in a cool place as long as they are sealed in an airtight container.
How long does it take for the Rice Krispies to set?
It takes about 2 hours for the treats to set well. It could probably take longer in climates with higher temperatures, such as 34 degrees Celsius, and high humidity levels as well.
If you reside in such areas, it is recommended to place your tray in the coolest part of your kitchen.
Expert Tips

Rice Krispies are very light and airy. It is essential to remember to use the spatula while mixing gently; otherwise, most of the Rice Krispies will spill out of the bowl. This causes a mess and wastage too.
M and Ms are smooth in texture and have curved edges; this characteristic will make them tend to drop off the treats easily, especially after cutting.
Slightly increasing the number of marshmallows (1 cup extra) in the recipe will make it gooier.
This will make the M and Ms attach better on the Rice Krispies.
