  • 1 tablespoon Green Food Coloring

Instructions

How to make the Mint Chocolate Aero Cake

  • Preheat the oven to 150C / Grease two 6-inch baking tin
  • Separate the egg yolks from the egg whites. In a large mixing bowl, beat the egg whites until light and fluffy.
  • Gradually add the butter/ vegetable oil and sugar and keep beating until fully incorporated.
You can use a handheld electric mixer or stand mixer with the whisk attachment.
  • In another bowl, whisk the dry ingredients until they are thoroughly mixed. Sift the dry ingredients into the egg mixture, one cup at a time.
  • Use a rubber spatula to gently fold the cocoa and flour mixture, be careful not to deflate the butter.
  • Pour the cake batter into the two greased pans and bake them for 20 minutes. Use a wooden skewer to check readiness, a clean skewer confirms the readiness.
  • Let the cake cool on a wire rack for 10 minutes and remove them from the pans.
  • Once the cakes are completely cooled, frost as desired with mint-flavored and chocolate butter frosting.

How to make the Butter frosting recipe

  • Using an electric mixer, beat thebutter until light. Sift in the powdered sugar and beat until creamy, add somemilk if the frosting is too thick.
  • Divide the frosting into two batches in separate bowls. Add drops of green coloring food color to one and cocoa powder to the other.
  • Add ½ cup of milk to the chocolate frosting because cacao powder will absorb all the moisture from the frosting causing the frosting to dry).
  • Use a piping bag and nozzle of your choice to decorate the cake.
  • Break the bar into pieces and use them to garnish the cakes. These bits and pieces of the aero mint bar attract all the children to this cake!
