Why this recipe works
There are different kinds of flavors of cake mixes that can be baked from the Duncan Hines cake mix range.
Depending on the extra ingredients you have, you can select what suits your situation.
These delicious cake mixes contain pudding, a component that increases moisture, enhances the flavor, and prolongs the cake's shelf life.
When you use the chocolate cake mix, you will add the chocolate instant pudding mix. Duncan Hines chocolate pudding cake mixes make the best decadent chocolate cakes you can ever indulge in!
I also love the different flavors of cake mix available such as the delicious Duncan Hines vanilla cake mix or the Duncan Hines white cake mix; make sure to add the instant vanilla pudding mix, enhancing the cake's moisture level.
Add lemon pudding mix to your tasty Duncan Hines lemon cake for more lemon flavor, texture, and moisture.
One of my favorite dessert recipes is the pineapple upside down made by the Duncan Hines cake mixes. With pineapple slices, maraschino cherries, melted butter, and brown sugar, you can make a beautiful irresistible sweet dessert.
Next time you have a party, select the Duncan Hines Red Velvet Cake mix; this no-fail recipe goes well with the cream cheese and white chocolate frosting and is an elegant party cake.
Any time you're in a grocery store, you could check out for the bright red boxes containing cake mixes. Betty Crocker has a broader range of cake mixes, but Duncan Hines makes more dense cakes.
All these box cake mixes are delightful as they enable us to bake the bakery cakes we usually covet and admire at home. Thanks to the Oklahoma State university extension.
Duncan Hines golden yellow pound cake mix
This main ingredient gives the cake a beautiful yellow hue and tasty flavor. The raising agents and flavors are already mixed in the flour, making work so easy.
Vegetable oil or Crisco oil
Oil is essential, adding moisture to the cake.
Egg yolks are great for conditioning the cake mixture; the egg whites give the cake an airy and light texture.
This component contains fats that increase moisture and nutritiously enrich the cake.
Instant Pudding mix
This secret ingredient enhances the overall flavor of the cake, increasing the moisture as well.
We substituted the water with milk in this recipe and used four eggs instead of three. Sour cream is an excellent substitution for milk as it adds more moisture to the cake.
To make the cake vegan friendly, replace the dairy milk with coconut milk. This is the best cake to make if you have traveled out on a camping holiday in the woods. Some ingredients are hard to come by when you're on the road.
We tried this cake mix recipe once, and it proved to be an easy dessert recipe to make when you are not home ground.

It might stay fresh at room temperature for a day or two. Lemon is a natural flavor and acts as a preservative as well.
Yes, you can. You could double the recipe to bake a quarter sheet pan cake in a high sheet pan.
The quarter sheet pan cake is 13 inches by 9 inches and 2 inches deep. It is the best option for small parties or potlucks.
Every baker at beginner level dreads this moment… After all the effort, then BOOM! the cake refuses to detach from the pan, or a section sticks on the pan… it is not fun; no.. you can avoid this by applying the following tips outlined below.
In case you are using a bundt cake or a tube pan, it's crucial to take time and grease every crevice of the pan. Proper greasing will prevent the cake from sticking in the pan.
In addition, ensure you remember to time the cake while it is cooling in the pan; ten minutes will suffice. The Duncan Hines lemon cake is high in moisture and might begin to sweat and stick to the pan.
Try Chocolate buttercream frosting!
Chocolate Buttercream partners exceptionally with the Duncan Hines yellow pound cake in terms of color contrast, texture, and unique flavors. This frosting is excellent for a layered yellow pound cake.
You can use a single pan that is round in shape. Once the cake is ready and cooled, completely separate using a serrated knife to make the layers.
Apply a dollop of chocolate buttercream for the first time, place the second layer, and frost on the outside of the cake for the second time.
The Lemon Curd Drizzle
We used our lemon curd to drizzle the top of our cake. It's always great to prepare this recipe two days before using it. This perfectly glazes cakes that have been baked in tins such as the tube pan, bundt pan or rectangular loaf.
- 5g lemon zest
- 3 eggs
- 1 cup of sugar
- 50g of butter
How to make it
Beat the egg yolks, and set aside the egg whites with sugar in a small bowl. Heat the mixture over a water bath as you continuously stir with a spatula for 10 minutes.
Use a wooden spoon to test the consistency: deep in the mixture and draw a line on the spoon with your finger .. the line you have drawn should remain. Remove from the water bath and strain the mixture into another mixing bowl.
Add butter and the lemon rind and mix. Pour into a mason jar and seal, then store it in the refrigerator to thicken. Use after a day or two for best results.
Drizzle the lemon curd on top of the cake using a teaspoon and enjoy the exquisite combination of flavors.
