It is that time of the year when my children are allowed to propose their favorite Christmas character-inspired delicacies.
After making our Rodulf reindeer rice krispies and Peppermint Affogato Chocolate Bombs each Christmas, I knew my little son would suggest something new.
The new entrants were gnome cookies! At first, I thought they were really hard to make, but rice krispies were relatively easy. After several attempts, this recipe always worked wonders!
These Christmas-inspired gnomes are very delicious, rich in flavor, and topped with an attractive chocolate and frosting. My children and their friends count down to the day I make these delights.
I love watching my nieces and nephews all gathered and nibbling their gnomes as they watch Miriam’s Christmas Gnome 🙂.
Involving the children makes it fun! It will take a shorter time and the kitchen will be filled with joy, laughter, and a little mess here and there. Let us have a look at what you need to make these irresistible Christmas treats.

Why this recipe works.
Fast to make - baking the cookies takes a short, some of my folks do not wait for the frosting, they devour them just like that.
Simple steps - baking these cookies does not require high gourmet skills as long as you follow each step prescribed in the recipe.
Attractive ingredients
These are the kind of treats that will fly off the tray because of how they have been attractively crowned.
What you need: Ingredients
All-purpose flour - works well in this recipe, you can substitute it with your favorite cookie flour.
Peanut butter - a key ingredient, it gives the cookies a distinct and unique nutty characteristic. You can use the chunky or smooth peanut butter. Chunky is my favorite, it enhances the crunchiness of the cookie.
Butter
Butter adds moisture and a lovely milky flavor to the cookie. Vegetable oil can be used in place of butter.
Cinnamon
Cinnamon blends perfectly with peanut flavor, adding a warm and woody flavor to the cookies.
Hershey Chocolate kisses
These specially shaped chocolates which resemble rain drops, form the head of the gnomes
Icing/ powdered sugar
Is used to make the frosting that forms the characteristic goatee beard of the gnomes.
Vanilla essence
It is optional to add vanilla to your cookie dough, but the fruity and mild flavor is something you do not want to miss.

Bake them for about 10 minutes. Use a round cookie cutter to scoot them, that is, give them neater and rounded edges by moving a hot cookie within the round cookie cutter.
Let the cookies rest on a cooling wire rack till completely cooled.
Assembling the cookies
This is the fun part! Once the cookies have fully cooled. Pipe some frosting on the top of the cookie and attach the bottom part of the chocolate kisses onto the cookie.
Pipe some frosting on one side of the gnome cookie to form the scarf and beard of the gnome cookie. Stick some candies to make the face of the gnome as you would desire.
Enjoy the lovely snack as dessert. Peanut Butter Blossom Gnome Cookies make appropriate gifts that put a smile on anyone's face.
EXPERT TIP
Use ingredients at room temperature
Ingredients at room temperature mix well giving you amazing results.
Measure your ingredients accurately
Use the scoop and level method to ensure your recipe has the right amount of flour. Excess flour reduces the amount of moisture in the cookie dough giving them a dry crumb.
