Why this Recipe Works
Kid Friendly
A kid-friendly no, baking recipe would be a good classic recipe. A recipe with simple steps that my eldest daughter, 8, could guide the rest with minimal supervision from mum.
In addition, all four would have something to help with happily. I remembered rice Krispies and marshmallows usually combined to make an easy treat.

Not messy
The waiting time is the only catch in this simple rice cereal treats with this recipe. You have to set the tray aside for around two hours, enabling the bar to become firm.
There's a great sigh of relief since we encountered a few dishes waiting at the sink at the end of the recipe. There's little cleaning to be done as the mixture is not messy or sticky.
A good rubber spatula is leaves with almost very clean bowls.
Very tasty
With great eagerness, the children waited to indulge in a treat that they had been actively involved in the preparation.
As I watched the children happily chatter and munch the treats, I wished I had added more pieces of chopped marshmallows. They kept of picking out the sticky marshmallows and eating them.
My young recipe judges beamed with joy each time they found a marshmallow in their slices.
One of the recipe tasters kept asking if we had added some ice cream to the treats and declared that his birthday must have the sweet, chewy, bake treats. He confirmed that these some of the best rice krispie treats he had ever eaten.
Firm enough to be transported
It was fulfilling to see the marshmallow spread hold the classic rice krispie treats without crumbling.
This makes these marshmallow fluff rice krispie treats treat good for birthday parties, potlucks, or picnics. I stored my homemade bake desserts in an airtight container and leave them at room temperature to maintain freshness and crispness.
The Ingredients

This recipe uses a few ingredients which can easily be found in your pantry. The ingredients are :
Rice Krispies
These form the biggest part of the recipe; you need about 5 cups of the airy cereals. You can just pick any generic brand from the grocery stores
Butter
Butter adds moisture to the rice Krispies, making them soft and chewy. The butter also adds a milky flavor to the Rice Krispie treats.
Marshmallows (preferably mini-sized)
These contain the sugar that sweetens the treats and the gelatin that becomes gooey, sticky, and stretchy when melted to become the marshmallow cream mixture. It is the binding agent in the recipe. A bag of marshmallow is enough for this recipe.
Note: The secret ingredient would be salted butter.
If you are using unsalted butter, then you can sprinkle a pinch of salt with the combination of marshmallow creme and the rice Krispies.
The Equipment

Saucepan: A heavy-based sauce or a large pot is the best equipment for melting the marshmallow and butter mixture. It will keep the mixture from burning.
Spatula: It's useful in scraping off the creamy mixture that remains in the bowl, thereby not wasting ingredients.
Mixing bowl; a large bowl is undoubtedly important as mixing the marshmallow paste with the rice treats is made easy since none of the mixture remains in the corners as would in a square mixing bowl.
Baking tray: a 5-inch rectangular nonstick shallow pan was the right size for the amount of marshmallow rice Krispie mixture.
Chopping board: a sturdy chopping surface is required as the solid bar is divided into sizable squares.
Knife or cookie cutters: You might use a knife to cut out regular shapes, although cookie cutters will bring in the aspect of creativity.
Substitution

Rice Krispies
You can substitute rice Krispies with crushed cornflakes, granola, toasted oats, and crushed crackers.
Marshmallows
Marshmallows act as a binding agent in the recipe and can be substituted with honey, date paste, tamarind paste, or maple syrup.
Butter
Butter can be substituted with peanut butter, almond butter, or coconut oil.
How to make this recipe
The recipe involves melting butter and marshmallows on medium-low heat into a smooth-flowing cream. The cream is poured into a bowl of Krispies. All the ingredients are mixed till all rice Krispies are coated with the cream.
The mixture is transferred into a tray and gently pressed on the tray. You can choose to line your tray with parchment paper so that the press mixture doesn't stick to the tray.
I used the nonstick cooking spray to prevent the mixture from sticking to the tray
At this point, you can decorate the bar with some chopped-up marshmallows!

Combine the melted butter mix into the rice krispies.

Mixture transferred into a tray and gently pressed on the tray.
Can you freeze?
It was honestly hard to have extra treats for freezing. My recipe tasters gobbled everything in less than two days. But in case you need to make a huge batch ahead of an upcoming event, the treats freeze beautifully.
First, it's advisable to cut the traditional rice krispie treats into your desired shapes and place them on baking paper or a sheet. Place the cut-out treats in your freezer overnight.
The following day, remove the treats and carefully put them in a ziplock bag or a plastic wrap. They can freeze for about three months.
How to Store

The marshmallow Rice Krispie treats should be stored in an airtight container and placed in the refrigerator.
Though as delicious as they are, the little ones ate them up in less than two days.

Expert Tips

When melting the butter and marshmallows, it's highly recommended that you use a gas stove and a saucepan as compared to a microwave.
This technique will allow you to closely observe the melting mixture and regulate the heat.
When overheated, the marshmallows will burn, and this causes the marshmallow Rice Krispy treats to become hard.
